Welcome to the Wolverhampton Road Racing Club

The Wolverhampton Road Cycling Club was founded in 1938 and is still going strong.

It was founded by the late great Percy Stallard who was famously known as the 'father" of road racing. Originally a member of the Wolverhampton Wheelers.

Percy started the WRCC with the intention of bringing "massed start" continental style racing to Britain which eventually led to the organisation of an illegal race in 1942 - The Llangollen to Wolverhampton Road Race. This led to all who was involved with the event being suspended by the then governing body The National Cyclists Union- From this a breakaway group was formed via the Wolverhampton Road Cycling Club to become The Midland League of Racing Cyclists, which, throughout the war saw many small associate groups spring up throughout the country , all of which were formed into the BRITISH LEAGUE OF RACING CYCLISTS.

Eventually a solution was found and the BLRC & NCU amalgamated to become The British Cycling Federation of which is the governing body of cycling as we know it to-day. Many prestigious riders & events have emerged from this club and now can boast a club sponsor in Bridgtown Cycles of Cannock.

The club also has within its ranks a national champion in Lynne Taylor who is a partner in Btown bikes. Her high achievements have been in recent years twice British best all rounder second in the competition for the last 4 years, holds many competition records including Lands End- John O'Groats ,1000 mile record and for the last 3 years she has been part of the BBAR team & national 100 team.
